Editorial Policy
Effective date: October 15, 2026
This Editorial Policy explains how WingdingsHub researches, writes, reviews, updates, and corrects its informational content.
Our objective is to publish material that answers a genuine reader need while remaining technically accurate, clearly scoped, and useful beyond the search query that brought a visitor to the site.
Editorial Principles
WingdingsHub follows several principles across its guides and reference material:
- Accuracy before convenience. We do not simplify a technical distinction when doing so would make the explanation materially misleading.
- Primary sources where appropriate. Official typography documentation, standards documentation, original software or game material, and other authoritative records are preferred for claims they are capable of establishing.
- Clear separation of fact and interpretation. Documented information, technical inference, common usage, and fandom interpretation are not treated as equivalent forms of evidence.
- Focused coverage. A page should have a clear purpose within WingdingsHub rather than exist merely because a keyword can be targeted.
- No artificial expansion. We do not add sections, FAQs, or repeated explanations simply to increase page length.
- Useful internal context. Related WingdingsHub resources are linked where they genuinely help a reader continue the subject.
How We Research Content
The research process depends on the subject of the page. A technical question about a font mapping requires different evidence from a historical question or a discussion of a video-game reference.
Where relevant, research may include:
- official font and software documentation;
- Unicode standards, character records, and related technical documentation;
- original or authoritative historical material;
- direct examination of the tools and mappings described on WingdingsHub;
- reliable secondary sources used to clarify context or identify disputed points; and
- current search results and user questions used to understand what information readers are trying to find.
Other websites may be reviewed to understand existing coverage or common user expectations, but WingdingsHub articles are independently structured and written. Another site’s statement is not treated as true merely because it ranks prominently in search results.
Technical Verification
When WingdingsHub describes its own tools, claims are based on implemented behavior rather than intended features or marketing language.
For example, a supported mapping, decoding behavior, privacy characteristic, or compatibility feature should be confirmed before it is presented as a capability. Limitations are included when they materially affect how a user should interpret the result.
We also distinguish between the original Wingdings font mechanism and Unicode-based symbol conversion because those technologies do not behave identically.
Sources and External References
External references are used selectively. We prefer authoritative sources that directly support the point being made rather than filling articles with unnecessary outbound links.
An external link does not constitute an endorsement of an entire website, organization, product, or viewpoint. Sources can also change after an article is published.
Authorship and Review
WingdingsHub articles are published under the authorship of Adrian Mercer. Editorial review focuses on factual accuracy, clarity, topical boundaries, internal consistency, and whether the article adequately answers its intended question.
We do not assign fabricated degrees, employment history, certifications, or professional experience to an author. Authority should come from transparent research and the quality of the published work.
More information about the site and its purpose is available on the About WingdingsHub page.
Updates
Evergreen facts are not changed merely to make an article appear recently updated. A page may be reviewed or revised when:
- a factual error is identified;
- an authoritative source materially changes;
- a tool or supported feature changes;
- browser, operating-system, or software behavior changes;
- new information materially improves the answer; or
- the existing explanation is no longer sufficiently clear or complete.
Substantive updates should improve the usefulness or accuracy of the page rather than change wording for cosmetic freshness.
Corrections
When a material error is confirmed, our aim is to correct the affected content rather than defend an inaccurate statement. Minor spelling, formatting, or clarity edits may be made without a separate correction notice.
If you believe something on WingdingsHub is inaccurate, use the contact form and identify the relevant page, statement, and supporting information where possible.
Editorial Independence
WingdingsHub is an independent resource. References to third-party fonts, companies, products, standards, games, or trademarks do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
If commercial relationships, advertising, or other arrangements are introduced in a context where disclosure is required or materially relevant to the reader, they should not override factual editorial conclusions.
Additional legal limitations are explained in the site’s Disclaimer.
